Fall Clean Up is a wonderful opportunity for CSU students & staff to help Fort Collins neighbors in need. The program is aimed at assisting elderly and/or physically limited neighbors in the Fort Collins area with outdoor yard work (raking leaves, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, etc.) that they cannot complete themselves and cannot afford to pay someone to do. This program helps facilitate positive relations between the long-term residents in Fort Collins and CSU students & staff, while also helping the neighbors to maintain their properties and get their homes ready for the fall/winter seasons.
Fall Clean Up was started in 2005 and has been growing ever since. In 2005 there were 24 neighbors helped by just over 50 student volunteers. In 2012, over 1000 volunteers helped 171 elderly and/or physically limited neighbors. Additionally, in 2009 leaf pick-up was added to the program at many long-term neighbors' request. The Fall Clean Up program was happy to provide a much needed service for the neighbors, who were left with numerous bags of leaves and no way to dispose of them. Today, CSU partners with students, staff and local faith-based organizations to go around to the various neighbor projects and pick up the bags of leaves and take them to a composting/recycling center. See if your project meetings Leaf pick-up guidelines.
